SCORECARD

Fitmen caught out in Rushall
The previous evenings thunderstorm of biblical proportions, wiping out the Moseley Jazz festival, was nothing compared to the biblical collapse of the Fitmen under portentous skies.
All talk was of the predicted downpour at 5PM, so winning the toss with a head, it was an easy decision to have a bat and then saunter off with some nice batting stats under the belt. Being able to watch the England run chase to finally beat the Aussies was an added bonus.
What wasn't predicted was a tricky track with wild variable bounce keeping openers Ralphie and Caines on their toes. Balls whistling/looping through at chin height off a good length is never a great sign.
The opening pair put on 53 in 10 overs, a really good effort with Ralphie aggressive as always and Paul C flicking and driving nicely.
However, that is as good as the afternoon got. Ralphie out mis-hoicking a straight one for 24, soon followed by Paul out caught and the collapse was on.
A sharp lifter caught the glove of Howarth for a golden and suddenly it was 57-3. Skip steadied the ship for a bit but every Fitman then proceeded to give their wickets away spooning up catching practice to the eager Walsall Health fielders, who to be fair only dropped one.
57-3 to 107 All out. One of the more abject batting performances for a long while.
Quick turn around. Early wicket for Harri S and a exceptional caught and bowled by Billy were the only highlights.
The rest will be consigned to fading memories.
A good collective the Walsall Health lads.
Tea provided and good level of banter - fair play.
Just a piss poor afternoon from the Fitmen,,,,However, there is always next week!
Onwards to some astro turf on Wednesday
