SCORECARD

Ton-up Tom too hot for Old Doms

Fitmen 246-4 Beat Old Doms 181-8 by 65 Runs

Despite the valiant efforts of the selection committee both sides turned up fielding only 9 players at the Graveyard.
With most eyes on Murray the skippers strode to the middle in blazing sunshine, with a niceley prepared track to bat on.

The oppo skipper called heads and won - Quelle suprise then that he invited the Fitmen to have a bat.
Tom and Bicemesieter opened up in good fashion, putting on 76 for the first wicket, mixing good running with solid slaps to the boundary boards. Bice made a quickfire 41 before being bowled, which brought the returning Chiz to the crease to join a fluent looking Tom Caesar.
They both kept up the good run rate, putting on over 100 before the fall of Chiz (73), also bowled. So it was left to Tom as the senior partner and some glorious driving and pulling brought about his first century in great style (102).
Ryan and Raj rounded off the innings after Tom had tried to push the accelerator, and a score of 246 looked very competitive.

Tea
Everyone then crowded around the 30 inch TV at the tea interval to witness Murray being 2 sets up in the final, and a generous spattering of Biryani interlaced with standard triangular sarnies and lashings of Pakora meant for a good all round tea effort.

Fielding/Bowling
With 6 an over required, the oppo openers didn't hold back, puncturing the inner ring and smacking the odd boundary. It took a great diving catch from Tom to account for their opener, but this brought to the crease another big hitter. Six an over was surpassed as they were rolling along at at least 10 an over. Ryan Curtis came on to try and stem the flow, and literally bought a wicker with a fine catch in the deep from Richard Bice.
A change of bowling just before the drinks break brought on Nutter, and his first ball nicked leg stump to be the first of a 4'fer.
The run rate slowly dried up, and the wickets kept falling. Memorable moments included another fine catch by Bice, and also Ryan Curtis with a one handed hamstring snapper.

Footnotes
Chaz got slapped for 4 by an 8 year old, but finished off the innings by bowling the oppo skipper to claim a fine win for the Fitmen.
Congratulations to Tom (and Murray...). ..only 1 of which I bet bought a jug...
Query from a certain A.Martin - "Is this an official Ton against only 9 players..."
