Back to Winning Ways for Fitmen
Lapworth 162-4 - Fitmen 163-2 - Fitmen won by 8 Wickets
The Fitmen enter the month of July with a 90 percent win record thanks to a smashing night on the tiles from 2 in form batsmen.
Caesar Snr checked the integrity of Cow-Corner as the newly Knighted FitSkip Raplhie lost the toss, and was requested to bowl first. Sunny and Ralphie kept if tight for the first few overs with Sunny bagging 2 wickets in 2 balls - El Ducie had seen enough and departed expecting a FitBowling onslaught.
Well - a few lusty blows - and slightly (read very) fortuitous slides through 8th slip saw the Oppo pile on the runs in quick time. Turgo took a smart catch to account for their opener, which brought together 2 rather well seasoned batsmen. "Wait there" was the shout as the lil-red-cherry sailed to distant parts, which saw Ralphie scuff the turf and mutter something in Welsh??
70 and 51 from the pair set the Fitmen a rather looming 163 to win...
Step up Bicey and Tahir. With some beautiful cover drives (yes Bicey...!!), tree hugging sixes - no fours - or should they be fives...?? the tins began to rattle and the required run-rate was kept in check. Tahir decided to prompt the bar to open by smashing one straight through the roof of the club-house, and the target was battered with more than an over to spare.
Quality 87 from Rich Bice and classy 69 not-out from Tahir, making a second wicket stand of over 140, saw the Fitmen home.
Thanks to Tahir and Dave Healey for grabbing 3 extras to enable a full complement of Fitmen.
