SCORECARD
7 Up for the FitMen @ Blackwood Away
Blackwood 135 - Fitmen 139-4 - Fitmen won by 6 Wickets
The Fitmen rolled up at a picturesque...if somewhat moist, rearranged venue of Sheldon Malborough CC in Yardley.
A spattering of bodies and the news that more, yes Ash and Chiz, were on the way looked like we were maybe needing to bat first, but after inspecting, and imprinting the wicket with footprints, the choice was to bowl first should the toss be won.
Heads was called and Fitmen to bowl first....
Bring on Ralphie...and Ash. Good job Ash turned up to take 3 for 20 in 6 overs; Ralphie calmly accepting a caught and bowled for a miserly 15 in 6 bouncy overs.
Raj and Caesar Snr bulked up the middle of the innings and were as tight as Mr Brentnall's winter wear, sharing 2 wickets for 42 runs in 15 overs.
Same for Mr Martin who kept the spare ribs in tact, bowling 5 smart overs taking 2 for 11. Newest recruit Abs turned some, like his baseball cap, and didn't turn others, and picked up a ShabAsh wicket.
Comedy moments included a Thunderslide from Si on the rope, and a push'oer'the boundry drop from Ralphie, but the real rib ticklers were the Usain Bolt-like spurts from a Hamstrung first slip before realisation took hold - and Chiz turned up.
So, some tight bowling (and Hamstrings) and comedic fielding - aside from another excellent run out from our usual suspect Tahir - resulted in a score of 135 All Out for the oppo. Plenty of byes assisted the bowlers economy rate mind...
Tea included Jaffa Cakes and Tea...quite memorable I think??
Si and Butch calmly opened the account of the Fitmen and Si opened the Most-6s-in-a-season challenge with Ade by popping one into a neighbouring garden.
Tahir and Chiz looked in class form before the shot of the day brought about Mr Ts demise - Chiz's straight drive being deflected onto the stumps with Tahir backing up...
A few broken fences and the score crept towards the required 135. Ade tried to take on the most 6s challenge but fell a good 60 meteres short, having used a lob wedge and not the Railway Sleeper driver we are so used to seeing. Still 1-0 to Si.
Everyone contributed with the bat to take the total with 4 wickets down. Another excellent display to maintain the 100 percent record.
