SCORECARD

Heads roll in one sided contest

Oh dear god, after an amazing winning run, please, please, with a cherry on the top, let us win a toss? No. Who calls heads at the Brittanic dust bowl? Well the Sportsmen skipper did. I shouldn't even have been in charge of giving a toss, but skipper for the day Waseem was caught in traffic and so we were asked to broil in another 33 degree day with zero cloud cover. Magic.

When skipper Waseem was smashed for 2 straight sixes in his first over and Billy mullered to all parts by league cricket openers, why dear lord did we agree to play this lot again? 40 turned to 80, 80 to 160, 160 to 323 for 9. Hot. Dropped catches didn't help. LBW decisions = zero (we gave 2) defo didn't help. Edging a wide and not walking? You get my drift. Win at all costs? Retire at 100? Nah. It's all about me and my day. Not manufacturing a game that was close and enjoyable. The "Sportsmen" are not the greatest of Sportsmen in this reporters own opinion.
A brilliant catch by Billy. 2 Very well taken pouches from Mo. 4 magnificent wickets from Nutter and some superb finding of the ball in the thistles and brambles were worthy of note.
No one clapped us off the field after spending 3 hours in the heat.
Just take over the tables in the shade and leave all your litter and plastic water bottles on the floor for us to pick up.
What a fantastic group of Sportsmen.

Opening up, the Rowlands brothers enjoyed some very quick and accurate stuff. Very good players this pair and to be fair they really enjoyed the challenge. 50 partnership was excellent stuff with some well timed cuts and glances. Delightful. Billy in at 3 lasted 2 balls. Mo out for a very rare golden duck. What we needed was for the skipper to anchor the innings a score a century. He hit the hatrick ball for 4 but then swiped across the line 2 balls later and was out for 4. We were done for.

Stevie Nicks garnered a very useful 29 and Sully, who had kept wicket brilliantly and offered his huge heart and character for the Fitmen (respect) scored a nice late 20's as well. The Sportsmen spinners twirled away taking regular wickets with a load of un-needed banter and the Fit wickets continued to fall.

"We do this to everyone we play"

Well done you. You won't do it to us again, i can promise you that
