Fitmen crushed like T'atchers Ice

Fitmen, 237-8, lost to Highcroft, 239-4, by 6 wickets

In hindsight calling heads and batting first was a fine toss to win.
Regular opener Gav was joined by a returning Si, and a platform 50 partnership ensued. Si fell trying to up the rate for his 20 (3 x fours), bringing Rich Harris to the crease with intentions of smashing it from the word go. Indeed he ensured the Six-ometer race went down to the last game, clawing two back with monstrous hits straight back over the bowler, one of which pitched on the adjoining bowling green!! Gav was bemused to learn he had passed 50 pushing a two to long on, and went on to make a smart 66 (11 x fours), before also flaying at a wide one from the leftie spinner only to be lured into skying it. A run-a-ball 31 from 'Arris, which also included three fours, was abruptly halted by the returning opener, who yorked our Gifted Coiffeur.
Four down then and plenty of work to do. One shot relished in the number 5 spot, smashing 8 fours and 2 sixes in a great unbeaten 76, which pretty much carried the Fitmen to 237. The Repertoire however now includes the RobGreen Dairylea Chinese Cut. Little assistance was offered from the rest of the lower-middle order, but when you see that six FitBatsmen were bowled, you get an idea of the accuracy we were facing.

238 to defend seemed to be a task we could achieve - yet looking at the road of a track and the short boundary into the horse pittal, this task was hastily reviewed.
Sam L and Bal were requested up front, and both were hammered from the off.
Raj, Previously Dangerous Dave Healey, Jonesy, Harris and Ade all suffered similar fates, and so we turned to Ralphie to stem the flow. A great spell of 8-0-31-3 kept us interested and certainly had the oppo' batters dancing in their crease.
With an economy rate nearing Pi, Tuckerrr need not have taken the bait proffered by his teammates, yet felt it only right that if everyone was getting battered, then the skipper should have some of the same medicine. Off came the gloves for a solitary over, which literally bought the wicket of a Highcroft Clubber, a great catch taken by Raj (somewhere near the Moob region) that must have gone twice as high as it did long.
By then though the damage was well and truly done, and valiantly Raj returned to wrap up proceedings...I think another six won it??
The (bowling) stats were argued over for some time with the assistance of plenty a pint, with the hope that economy rates could be protected for honour and pride!!

Next (and last) up, Four Oaks away, before Curry, Saturday 24th, 8:00 pm, Sweet Chillies; followed by Beer Festival @ The Old Mo.
The sales of Ibuprofen in the Yardley region are forecast a dramatic downturn before a sharp increase again come winter nets...
