A Damp Squib Start to the 2016 Season

The bad news was that despite every Fitman being in peak physical fitness for the first match of the season, April showers in the week building up to the 10th April meant that the Old Doms (and the Fixture Bureau) were unable to produce a wicket for the now traditional first match of the season. Flight Lieutenant Ralphie was mightily disappointed as his dreams of bowling short and fast on a bouncy astroturf wicket flew out of the window.

The good news was that this meant the Fitmen didn't lose the first scheduled match of the season, like 2015 and 2014! Bravo.

The next bad news was that the last 'first match of the season cancellation' was in 2012, where the Fitmen didn't play a match until 13th May. Let's hope Shefali can work her magic for the summer...

Perhaps however, this hiccup to the start of the season will mean that next week's game against 'TBA' will be a rip-roaring success for the captain, Rob 'Dairylea' Green.
