Precipitation Puts Paid to Possible Pummelling

The Village 200-9, v Fitmen DNB. Abandoned at Tea

Skipper for the day Raj lost the toss and was asked to field first under darkening skies.

With bowlers at a minimum it was up to the ever reliable swing of Sunny, accompanied by the now firmly entrenched resident Donkey expert, to open up. Sunny swung from the off, and was unlucky to remain wicketless after numerous play-and-misses by the opening pair. Sharif snagged the opener leg before, after a solitary appeal was indeed given as out...
Skipper Raj bowled superbly - bagging a nice 3 for, including an extremely well taken caught and bowled, and 2 wicket maidens, yet was unfortunately denied a hat-trick that would have straddled 2 overs, whilst Tuckerrrrr swung down 5 overs before the moisture consumed the leather, claiming one wicket courtesy of a sharp stumping by Tom Houlgate. Not to be outdone, Rob "1 yard quicker" Green nurdled out another batter in similar fashion, Tom H again whipping off the bails in double-quick time...
Wickets fell regularly, thanks to Raj and Bal, both claiming 3 apiece, before Sunny returned amongst continuous drizzle. By now the sodden cherry was plumping up like a Botox'ed WAG, and this, coupled with the aggressive number 10 playing some shots, saw the score worm take a sharp turn upwards to end on 200 for 9. Probably gettable?? Perhaps not...

Double Zinger Wings - Apparently a mid-season change of chilli powder was experimented with this week, wow!!
Quality cake selection from the House of Green.

Did not happen - off to the bar to watch the Germans' efficient destruction of the Slovaks, and wonder in awe at Mario Goetze's choice of swimwear...and also a Kangaroo Court on whether the stats should be entered considering the weather. Chairman voted aye.
The stats ended up being incidental as the abandonment ensured that stats entered do not contribute - Sam still sits top of the Wicket Board!
