SCORECARD

MATCH REPORT BY MIKE RALPH

"On a rare outing as Captain, Ralphie took to the field against the Mermaids with Ade's stark reminder that we were still undefeated for the season mid-week.
Tails never fails so we all donned the pads and batted first. With the omission of Habib of Torquay from the side, Ralph and Martin opened the batting and hit a SLUGGISH 47-1 off the first 4 overs, with the wicket of Ralphie for 33 off 17 balls. Adrian batted on to 19 off just 9, with a REMARKABLE SR OF 211! . T came and went fairly quickly but saw a decent partnership of Mo and Simon scoring 56 between them, Mo pulling and cutting fours and Turgio slog sweeping a 6 onto the pavilion. Sharif's sense of length of time it takes to run 22 yards was askew with Mark Tucker running about 27 yards to be run out, much to the amusement of the onlooking spectators.......Tucker unimpressed, Greg and Ash saw out the innings with Greg stumped off the last ball of the innings. 164 on the board, a score at the time was felt to be 20-30 runs short ......or so we thought
The two who finished the batting came back out to start the bowling. A quite spectacular opening spell saw the score at around 35-3 after 8 overs. This included a diving catch at fly gully from the captain, cutting his arm in the process and crying off to his girlfriend to kiss it better.
Ade carried on the great bowling going for 0-26 off his 4, only due to the brutal hitting of one batsman of whom Bal managed to get caught by Tahir of whose backing up the entire match was quite superb. Sharif carried on his relentless course to take the leading bowler honours from the grasp of Ade with 2-19. Ralphie finished bowling like a drain to finish the game with a 35 run victory.

Undefeated for yet another week!
