Fitmen Crumble in new T28 format

Fitmen 95 all-out, lost to Leamington Lemmings, 96 for 4, by 6 wickets

With commitments aplenty including wedding season, preference to perform in the forthcoming Hippo's tour, combined with attendance at the home of cricket to witness the South African's choking (again), handing Rooooooot his first victory as skipperrr, the FitUpdate What's App group was in overdrive gathering a motley XI for the trip to Warwick council sports ground, for a revised start time of 1:30 pm.

The Apple Crumble topping on the wicket, coupled with the news that only 1 ball would be used throughout, pointed towards a bowl first decision - problem is you need to call correctly, and as the heptagon shaped coin rolled along it's merry way, it landed tails, rather than fall down one of the monstrous cracks on offer.
Oppo skipper said "we'll have a bowl" - Fitmen Skipperrrr said "we will too..." - didn't go down too well....

A newly crafted opening pair of Ralphie and Chaz tiptoed to the middle in the hope of not disturbing the surface too much.
Both Lemmings openers bowled with discipline and guile, mixing massive outswingers with smart slower balls, one of which did for Ralphie - bowled for not too many through the gate. Chaz decided no shot was necessary, yet as the cherry would have smashed into leg stump, Bal had no option but to raise the dreaded finger...
Brother Nutt played inside the line, leaving DDH to face hat-trick ball...survived - out next over though in a similar fashion as Brother Nutt - clean bowled playing down the wrong line - Fitmen now 18 for 4 FFS.
The same LBW downfall was to become of Skipperrrr Tuckerrr, who, after smashing the first change for a couple of straight boundaries, also heaved across the line and was trapped - back leg in front - like Stokes earlier in the day, even the batsman knew...
Sunny was the only batsman to be caught - an absolute one-handed stunner at midwicket.
The rest of the crew were bowled, the only one offering any resistance being Guy, who clocked 21 including a monster flat six towards the nearby River Avon.
Oppo' still unable to get the Chairman out however....
Fitmen 95 all out in 28 overs, thanks to a combination of disciplined bowling, suspect surface, and some poor shot selections...

Rather than turn around for the reply, tea was taken amongst a bargain "3 for a fiver" can offer...

When you are blessed with 8 regular recognised bowlers, hopes of defending a measly target are boosted.

Sunny and DD Healey opened up, and our in-house Swinger Sunny failed to hoop the ball in his usual manner. DDH however bowled superbly, snapping up 2 wickets, one caught "in the thighs" behind - one plumb in front - a shooter indeed. DDH bowled just over 4 overs, 3 of which were maidens, for 9 runs...not a bad start.
Sunny toiled but remained wicket-less - 3-0-22-0.
The seasoned Lemmings skipper and his partner were calmly setting about the target, so change ups were the order of the day.
Guy bowled to a Bodyline style field, conceding only 2 runs in 2 overs - a great CV to now take back up North at the end of the summer - now a reformed middle order batsman that bowls a bit!!
The Chairman, Bal and Nutterrr, (I), all bowled with discipline, keeping the score in check and tempting the odd false shot.
Nutter, I: 1-0-4-0.
Chairman: 2-0-7-0.
Bal: 2-0-9-0.
With wickets hard to come by however, more change ups accelerated the scoring, with both James Tasker and Ralphie feeling the pinch for 17 apiece in their 2 overs.
Last throw of the dice was to unroll Chaz for a bowl....first ball bowled!! Turned square I tell you! As if to prove it was no fluke, a carbon copy second ball returned the same success - clean bowled again - this one turned backwards!!
Hat-trick ball was smashed over mid-on, and with a (cheap, 3 for a fiver) jug avoidance under his belt, Chaz took himself off to protect great figures of 1-0-3-2.
The oppo reached their target in 20 overs, after which it was handshakes (almost) all round, and back to creating a Stella Worm @ the bar.
Home in time to see the loved ones and catch the end of Countryfile...
Hippo's and Birmingham Libraries up next - Monday and Wednesday.
