Sun 14 / 8 / 2016 Belbroughton C.C. Away Lost by 35 runs. Oppo 154 Old Mo 119

Fitmen endure death by spin in scythe making district

Fitmen, 119 all out, lost to Belbroughton, 154 all out, by 35 runs

With the bar not due to open until errrrrrrmmmmmmmmmmmmmm..........half-three.......ish........maybe....it was with (some) pleasure that the loss of the toss allowed the Fitmen to take to the field against the Famille Hawk packed West of Bell Enders - possibly a good thing looking at the mottled looking green top.

Crabby Ade reluctantly opened "Up the Hill" with Tone accompanying him from t'other end. The Leftie opener took an immediate liking to Ade - hard to believe I know - smashing at least 14 off the first. Another couple of overs in and the oppo' were up to about 30 odd already.
Beligerence is key and so proved for Ade who had his victim trapped plumb in front for a very quickfire 31. That summoned the brakes, and our opening pair shared 5 wickets in 16 overs - (AMartin 8-0-39-3; ACaesar 8-1-33-2), assisted by smart catching from Sam, and some that were clean bowled - TC claiming one turned; Ade throwing in his Christmas slower ball - keep your eye out for that one at winter nets...
All was looking good with Golden Arm Sam and Frugal Sharif taking up the gauntlet - Sharif with remarkable figures of 8-0-16-1, and Sam claiming even better figures of 8-2-15-2. With a great run out of their skipper, courtesy of Tom C and Tom H, we now had the oppo' at 89-9, so with the 2 Hawk bats being rotated between all the XI Belbroughton batsmen, along with batting style, looks and humour [sic] being similar amongst them all, it was difficult to make out whether any of them had batted before...so it proved as another Leftie helped himself to 66 before succumbing to Bal's Doosra, alas in the 40th over, and by now the total had crept to 150+. Maybe 30 odd more that they should have got but surely not insurmountable...'fraid so...

Tea was great, including some MASSIVE scones + trimmings.

Batting however was less great, and aside from a typically brutal 43 from Gav (6 x fours; 1 x six), everyone struggled against spinner after spinner...other notable highlights included Tuckerrrr smashing the 49th FitSix of the summer in passing the 500 mark for the season, TC clubbing 2 fine fours in a defiant 12, before giving himself out stumped, and Tom H risking a 'quick single', only to be run out against quality (Hawk like??) fielding. Champagne moment however must go to our own Hawk Owning One Shot Specialist, who questioned the bowler's integrity following a review of a C & B, that unfortunately went in favour of the fielding side...
119 all out then and back to the bar to at least bathe in the warmth of a Scouse victory at the Emirates...
who will turn the Six Counter over the 50 mark on Thursday at AMS in the last T20 of the Summer??? Watch all the action from Feckenham, live from 6 pm, on Sky Sports None.
